PULSE project Meet-Up: Opportunities for European journalists & newsrooms

Incontro informale e di networking per approfondire le opportunità di collaborazione per giornalisti/e e testate giornalistiche nella copertura degli affari europei nell'ambito del progetto "PULSE. Europe beyond the beat".
PULSE – Europe Beyond the Beat is a cross-border journalism initiative that fosters collaboration in the coverage of European affairs. It brings together 10 leading national media outlets (Delfi – Lithuania, Deník Referendum – Czechia, Der Standard – Austria, EFSYN – Greece, El Confidencial – Spain, Gazeta Wyborcza – Poland, Hotnews – Romania, HVG – Hungary, Il Sole 24 Ore – Italy, Mediapool – Bulgaria) and three transnational organisations (OBCT, n-ost, Voxeurop). Together, they work to strengthen a vibrant European public sphere by producing and sharing content on European affairs daily.
Beyond its core members, PULSE envisages two Engagement Funds to extend its collaborative opportunities to additional newsrooms and individual journalists across Europe. The first Engagement Fund is addressed to other newsrooms that can join as Associated Members, collaborating with other networked media in cross-border coverage of European affairs. The second Fund supports individual journalists and freelancers in PULSE Thematic Networks, enabling them to work with peers on key topics such as EU enlargement, Europe’s green transition, global power dynamics, and media and information society.
Unlike other collaboration models, mostly focused on investigative or data journalism or on syndication, PULSE engages in collaborative production of news and stories on a nearly daily basis. With a decentralised and open approach, PULSE diversifies European news coverage, amplifies voices from border regions, civil society, and marginalised communities, breaks national silos, and moves beyond a Brussels-centric perspective.
PULSE is also a space for journalists to exchange ideas, share resources, and professional connections across Europe.
In this informal meet-up, OBCT will introduce PULSE’s collaborative model and funding opportunities for newsrooms and journalists interested in covering European affairs. Join us in Perugia on April 11, from 14:30 to 15:15 (Spazio MODU, Via Bontempi, 25 – Perugia) for a presentation and Q&A session.
