Turkey: what challenges and opportunities for the near future?

Conferenza organizzata da ISPI - Istituto per gli Studi di Politica Internazionale e  GMF - The German Marshall Fund of the United States

While Turkey is on the way to consolidate the shift to a presidential system of government, it is facing a number of challenges in both domestic and foreign policy. Domestically, the economic crisis is one of the main challenges to stability. As Turkey is heading for important local elections, the economy has officially entered its first recession in a decade after years of sustained growth.

At the regional level, instability has greatly affected Turkey, and security issues continue to shape its foreign policy, especially in Syria and Iraq, as well as relations with international players. How is Turkey facing different challenges and crises? What the prospects for economic growth? What role can the country play in regional stabilization?

The conference will be divided into three sessions that will focus on foreign policy, domestic politics and the economy.
