Media4Europe Summit

The Media4Europe Summit is the launching event of the second edition of the Stars4Media exchange and training programme, co-funded by the EU, where Chiara Sighele and Giorgio Comai of OBCT are involved as coaches and in the jury

This event will be articulated in two parts:

Stars4Media session (9:30-11:30)
  • A short presentation of the Stars4Media Second Edition and of the Media4Europe event and testimonials of award-winning initiatives: 
  • Panel 1: How startups and incubators can be involved in Stars4Media?: Lina Timm (Media Lab Bayern, Germany). Moderated by Stephen Fozard of WAN-IFRA.
  • Panel 2: Tech and product development for trust: Denis Teyssou (MediaLab Agence France Presse, WeVerify / InVid); Sebastiaan Van Der Lans (WordProof and Trusted Web initiative); Agnes Stenbom (Responsible Data and AI Specialist, Schibsted); Andreas Marckmann Andreassen (Digital Editor and Head of News at the Danish magazine+news site Journalisten). Moderated by Stephen Fozard of WAN-IFRA.
  • Announcement of application process & deadlines, and tips & tricks on cross-border cooperation
  • Q&A
High-Level Policy debate: “Towards a healthy European News Media sector?” (12:00-13:30)

The debate will address these key issues: 

– The Media Action Plan, in particular, the “NEWS bundle” initiative and the “European News Media Forum”, and the EU’s Democracy Action Plan

– The digital and technological transformation of the media sector, and solutions to accompany news media’s capacity to innovate through training programmes, Creative Europe and EU funding supporting news media’s recovery

– Opportunities for cooperation between national media at European level, around a content sharing European platform

The debate will bring together representatives from the Commission, European media publishers, media associations, technology companies and MEPs. It will be moderated by Christophe Leclercq from Europe’s MediaLab (Fondation EURACTIV), and there will be a short Q&A session with the participants.
