Zugdidi's IDPs
What was supposed to be only a temporary relief, became with time a stable residence. In the last few years, Georgia's government increasingly provided housing in other parts of Georgia, but for different reasons many did not accept the offer. Some had work or had their children studying in Zugdidi. Others preferred to stay close to their properties in Gali. According to a recent survey, about 40% of IDPs registered in collective centres in Zugdidi have access to agricultural land in their place of origin.
