Last Monday, under the motto #YouAreNotAlone (# НеСиСама), hundreds of people demonstrated in the centre of Sofia against violence against women, demanding effective action from the institutions
In the first eleven months of 2018, almost 30 women were killed in Bulgaria, most of them by their partners. On the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, the Bulgarian Fond for Women organised a protest in the centre of Sofia, calling for the creation of prevention programmes and the creation of shelters for victims. Recently, the Bulgarian government has decided not to ratify the Istanbul Convention on preventing and combating violence against women
